BlackBerry Enterprise Solution* provides a standards-based platform and developer tools, which allows the development and deployment of custom wireless applications. With an HTML web browser, rich Java development tools and seamless integration with existing .NET and Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE) application servers, the BlackBerry platform can be leveraged by developers, including Independent Software Vendors, third party Systems Integrators and in-house developers.**
BlackBerry devices include an integrated web browser that supports standard mark-up and scripting languages such as: HTML, JavaScript , WML and WML Script
Users of both BlackBerry Internet Solution and the BlackBerry Enterprise Solution can use the browser to access Internet content (subject to network coverage)
Applications Developers: The BlackBerry platform allows developers to extend existing intranet-based applications to BlackBerry devices using a variety of tools and architectures. Web-based applications can be extended to the BlackBerry Browser with no device-side development required.
The BlackBerry Java Development Environment (JDE) can be used to build custom client/server applications that can be easily integrated with existing back-end systems built on a variety of technologies including .NET, Java/Java Platform, Enterprise Edition, SQL Databases, PHP, Web Services and XML.

The BlackBerry 8800 and Curve 8310 smartphones* both feature in-built GPS receivers and you can combine this feature with the BlackBerry Maps™ service to show your current location and access international route planning information.
You can enhance the GPS capability of your smartphone by upgrading it to get full turn-by-turn navigation and spoken directions to use while driving or walking with a service provided by one of O2's partners - Telmap. The Telmap Navigator service provides you with clear moving maps and well timed voice instructions. And don't worry if you miss a turn - Telmap Navigator instantly adjusts and continues to guide you without needing to recalculate your route.
How much is the Telmap Navigator service?
For UK & Ireland coverage the subscription to the Telmap Navigator service costs £4.99 inc VAT (£4.25 exc VAT) per month or £39.99 inc VAT (£34.03 exc VAT) per year.
Charges from O2 for downloading routing information vary depending on your BlackBerry from O2 tariff. If you have a Blackberry tariff that charges you a monthly line rental (BlackBerry Internet Solution on O2 Unlimited* or BlackBerry Enterprise Solution) all your UK Telmap usage is built into your monthly charge and there are no additional data usage charges for using the Telmap Navigator service. If you are using BlackBerry Internet Solution on the O2 Pay as You Use tariff, navigation downloads are chargeable at £2.70 inc vat (£2.30 exc VAT) per MB and we don't recommend using Telmap Navigator on this tariff.
